The Democratic Party: "Shut Up And Unify"
The ideological left is, as of late, objectively divided. Bernie Sanders was ousted from the nomination; Brought to you in part by Debbie Wasserman Schultz (pictured left) and the DNC itself on behalf of the bourgeois class. This was met with protests at the DNC and afterwards. Their logical deficiency resulted in the ushering in of Donald Trump as president, and this was met with protests; on Jan. 20th, and afterwards. Encroachments on societal dignity, human rights, and basic decency from the new administration inevitably followed, and each violation of such has resulted in protests since. The rebirth of the 'occupy movement', women's marches, science march (who would have supposed we would ever have to march on behalf of science?), immigrant's marches, fight for 15 protests, etc, etc, etc... What would the reasonable reaction to this commotion be to the logical/political mind? Would it be perhaps to protect immigrants rights, institute a living wage, tax corporations, etc? That would certainly be the reaction of a politician who considers protesters as their constituents, but no. (continue reading below)
So... What Is Reflective Of This 'New Direction'
The neoliberal bent of the "party of resistance" is not fueled by the meager crumbs from the humble abodes of everyday Americans; Rather, as much as with the Republican Party, by the wallets of the bourgeois class. This gracious 'generosity' (legal bribery, if we're not mincing words) is reciprocated with the prioritization of the 'needs' of its constituency. If the working class were that constituency, Flint would have clean, potable water. We would have a decent 'living wage', and it wouldn't take a 10,000 man march to achieve change in the way of basic human decency. The lack of motivation to change(which, for the Democrats, means "move to the left") is not hard to pinpoint amidst an oily cloud of media distraction. It is the enticing pull of money that beckons politicians to the right, and any proverbial 'party of the people' must be authored by it's future constituency. While the Democrats claim 'party unity' as it's goal, this should translate to those consistently discarded by the party to mean "shut up, and sit down". I say all of this to beckon that we do the opposite. That we rise to the occasion as people have innumerable times throughout history; And if history is any indicator, we will certainly win.
