Seattle People's Party Member Nikkita Oliver To Run For Seattle City Mayor
Activist, organizer, and socialist Nikkita Oliver will be running as Mayor in the city of Seattle, WA (where Kshama Sawant, member of the Socialist Alternative, currently serves on the city council). She has been endorsed both by The Socialist Alternative, The Seattle People's Party, and the DSA, and will it seems prove to be a formidable foe of capitalism in the upcoming election. Kshama Sawant is a familiar name in the area, and having won re-election in her district twice as a socialist, the odds are seemingly in Oliver's favor.
Initial incumbent Mayor Ed Murray originally sought re-election, albeit cancelled his campaign upon allegations of sexual misconduct. This race is not a given, on the other hand, as WA state Senator Bob Hasegawa has also announced his bid for the position, as have Mike McGinn, the former Mayor, and Jessyn Farrell. Persistence, and grassroots activism is needed here. Please spread the word about Olivers' candidacy on Twitter, Facebook, and every other social platform available!
