White House Pushes For Investigation Of 'Wiretapping' Claim
Talk show hosts are not a 'source' of information; they draw information from sources, and pass that information on with related commentary. Nonetheless, it seems that this story began with one. Conservative talk show host Mark Levin initiated the story that was carried by far right publication 'Breitbart' in an article on the 3rd, receiving the attention of both the president in a series of tweets(see bottom of page), and fox news. Levin made the case from The New York Times, Washington Post, & The Guardian, but with very indirect evidence. Snopes has since debunked the claim, as have other outlets. Nonetheless, the White House is pushing for further official investigation by the FBI into the matter... A request which has been denied once by Clapper. There have been repeated requests for evidence of the claim, but all to no avail. According to NBCNews, both Democrats and Republicans demand evidence before investigating, and Sean Spicer, WH Press Sec., says the White House will not comment again until congress has investigated the matter. According to the Associated Press, an intel panel is supposed to investigate the WH claims.
