Trump Targets DACA
In a truly unprecedented move on Sept. 6th (Tues), Donald Trump targeted the recipients of DACA, a program put in place via executive order by the Obama administration for the protection of children brought into the country by immigrant families. The program (again, put into affect via executive order) is not only being targeted by Trump, and attacked as "unconstitutional" by AG Sessions, but its removal is being laid at the feet of a body incapable of incapacitating it, namely, Congress. Perhaps the Donald, in his infinite ignorance, does not understand that executive orders are undone by executive orders, or, perhaps he feels that it is Congress's duty to defend his actions, and garner support amongst the American people. Either way, he is requesting that an inhumane action is being laid at the feet of those unable to deal with it.
Trumps actions have spawned nationwide protest, as both members of the community of DACA recipients, and their egalitarian comrades ans allies staged sit-ins and protests in cities and towns across the country. At a demonstration outside Trump tower alone, there were 36 arrests made by police on the ground in response to a protest with absolutely zero violence. Protests, and subsequent arrests also occurred in Denver, D.C., and even the Dept. of Justice.
